The Program...  

1.   The Family completes the 5 Modules at their own pace with Participation Assessment completed before starting.

2.   The 5 Module and Participation Assessment is a guide to determine the areas that need more attention and the participation level for each family member participating.

3.   The 5 Modules consist of: Communication, Boundaries, Self Care, Collaboration and Family Plan. Each has specific topics and activities to be completed by each family member

4.   Each week there is contact either by phone, online journal, skype or e-mail to touch base and to follow up with personal development on their strengths, challenges and homework. 

5.   The family participates in family time activities, complete with exercises. The family along with guidance from CFS will establish their family mission and vision statements.

6.   A series of discussions take place within the family unit to discover solutions to their challenges. CFS will be available by phone if guidance is needed.

7.   The family participates in setting specific goals and milestones with a follow-up plan.  


Cool Family Solutions coaches families to be Cool, Calm and Collaborative. 

Cool Family Solutions (CFS) has a non-clinical approach to family collaboration which is complimentary to the traditional clinical approach.

The objective of the CFS Program is to coach families to develop the skills needed to be dependent on the strengths within the family to solve their day to day issues and upheavals skillfully (except for the times of safety issues, concerns and crisis). 

How?  Participating in the 5 modules which has ideas and suggestions to help reduce the isolation families feel and trust the understanding of the experiences and leverage the learned skills:  

Communication | Boundaries | Self Care | Collaboration | Family Plan

Each module consists of 3 specific areas that relate to the topic. 

  1. Education provides information to be considered when making changes.

  2. Story listen to a real life family experience of being in the throws of turmoil. 

  3. Activities will stimulate the feelings and thinking to discover solutions to the challenges that are being experienced


COMMUNICATION consists of Coping Mechanism, Triggers and Changes

Learn to:

 

·  communicate with confidence to respond effectively to  challenging situations causing less conflict

·  feel in control of handling the emotions triggered, such as anger, when stressful events occur

·  listen so others feel heard and understood to prevent communication break down

Communication Objective:  family confident in resolving issues that appear and each family member able to express their feelings and thoughts calmly so everyone feels heard and understood.

BOUNDARIES consist of Drawing the Line, Momentum and Choices  

          Learn to:

·  set clear boundaries to notify others of what is expected

·  follow through with consequences if boundaries are violated

·  state what others can expect of you

Boundaries Objective: each family member setting their boundaries, stating clear, concise expectations, and following through consistently.

SELF CARE consists of Discoveries, Purpose and Map Purpose

          Learn to:

·  experience the positive results of calmness when caring for self

·  discover a purpose of meaning and fulfillment that energizes you

·  implement your purpose in career, family and community

Self Care Objective: build the mental, physical and spiritual capacity to manage the

emotional triggers and life’s stresses.

COLLABORATION consists of Family Vision/Mission, Independence, Family Circle  

     

          Learn to:  

·  set a Family Vision/ Mission to provide a focus on achieving cohesiveness and harmony

·  involve the entire family in the process of solving problems by utilizing the strengths of each family member

·  play and work together to ride the highs and lows of daily experiences

Collaboration Objective: collaborate the strengths of each family member to participate in the process of solving problems and each feel they are part of the solution.

FAMILY PLAN consists of Solution Focused, Setting Goals and Keep Going  

          

          Learn to:

·  implement a process to solve problems to have less conflict

·  set goals to have a clearer understanding of each family member aspirations

·  keep going to maintain effective communication, boundaries, self care and collaboration to sustain family unity

Family Plan Objective: design a plan that fits the needs of the family to manage the ups and downs of family stress/illness long term.
