RELEASE For immediate release September 30, 2008 Calgary Company to Revolutionize Mental Health Field Cool Family Solutions of Calgary has developed a
groundbreaking technique that promises to revolutionize the mental
health field by providing long-term planning for families touched by
mental health problems or drug addiction. “There has never been long-term planning for the
entire family,” said Mona Cooley, CEO of Cool Family Solutions, “yet
it is so critical to society. The World Health Organization estimates
that one in every four families worldwide has a member experiencing
mental illness. If caregivers would only heed the flight attendant’s
warning – take care of yourself first – mental health and addictions
would not exact such a great toll on the family, school, and
workplace.” Cooley experienced first-hand the challenge of
mental health problems. Through trial and error over more than a decade,
her family taught themselves how to effectively support her daughter at
a time when no family support programs existed in Alberta. That
experience drew Cooley into the mental health field, where she was
instrumental in developing a successful course to coach families with
similar problems. She soon recognized the need for a more in-depth
technique that would complement existing resources: long-term planning
that would keep families cool and individuals independent. Cooley, whose efforts were recognized through the Alberta Division Canadian Mental Health Association’s 2008 Nadine Stirling Memorial Award, now conducts detailed assessments of family dynamics and history, tailoring programs that draw upon and build family strengths. The result: families take control of their own health, learn to live with purpose, and implement a long-term plan. “Investing in your family today will bring a
great return tomorrow,” said Cooley. For further information, contact: Mona Cooley E-mail: mona.cooley@coolfamilysolutions.com Website: www.coolfamilysolutions.com
